Common mistakes – join/attend, give/provide

‘Join’ or ‘attend’ ? Can you use them correctly with confidence ?

 – ‘Join‘ is like a link in a chain –
It means become a member of something. E.g. “Join a club.”

But going regularly to a class, course, school or university, you need to use ‘attend’.

Stressing over showing off your vocab? Here are some phrases to learn and use:
• Instead of ‘give’, use ‘provide’ for things or services offered by organisations. “The festival committee did not provide enough toilets.
• ‘Make available to’ can be used to write about services supplied by an organization or individual. “The hotel made its conference room available to the press.
